Wizardwood
Lyrics by Wendy Sheridan © 1987. All rights reserved.
Midnight dark the moon has set
Branches loom forbidding me
Passage through these trees
Traveling through the wizard wood
My horse abandoned long ago
Stepping soft through leaf and fen
No sword hanging by my side
Magic is my only friend
Wandering in the wizard wood
Light suddenly appears inside a meadow
A figure raises his arms cloaked all in shadow
My skin grows suddenly cold, my heart afraid
Something urges me on; I cannot move
Can I fight with myself? Face my deepest heart?
Must I confront my soul here in the wizard wood?
Birds announce the break of day
And tell me I survived the night
I rise and turn to greet the sun
As a new wizard ready to join the fight
Mastering of the wizard wood
